Major food company in China adopts PlantWeb to improve sugar-making processEmerson Process Management has reached a contract agreement with Guangxi Guitang (Group) Co., Ltd., one of the largest sugar-making companies in China, to automate two process operations using PlantWeb digital plant architecture. The PlantWeb solution networks intelligent field devices and DeltaV automation systems, and includes Asset Management Solutions (AMS) software. Guangxi Guitang (Group) Co. began automating their production several years ago, but the control system now in use has been unable to meet their expectations and has affected the factory's productivity. Through technology exchange seminars that Emerson held in Nanning, Guangxi, the company's management learned of the field-proven PlantWeb architecture and the benefits of using this revolutionary automation solution to improve the economics of the plant performance. As Mr. Long Li Zhi, Project Manager of Guitang (Group), explained, "The PlantWeb solution from Emerson is effective for increasing the stability of process control and reducing the cost of maintenance and operations — which is exactly what we need.” Mr. Guo Gang, Instrument Engineer of Guitang (Group), added "We are impressed by many characteristics of Asset Management Solutions software, which can make reducing our configuration and calibration costs very easy. Furthermore, the advanced diagnostic features can help our operators focus on "problem only" areas and avoid unnecessary maintenance — which eventually will improve our maintenance and asset management efficiency." Advanced diagnostics are provided in all Emerson intelligent field devices. Open, standard communications technology delivers the diagnostics and other information to users at network nodes throughout the PlantWeb architecture — including other field devices, the easy-to-use DeltaV automation system, and Asset Management Solutions (AMS) software, a key building block for managing plant assets . The resulting field-based architecture delivers new levels of maintenance and operations savings. Guangxi Guitang (Group) Co., Ltd is a listed company in the Chinese Stock Market and one of the top 500 companies owned by the state. The main business of the company covers various areas, including sugar making and paper making. |
