Electric Power Corporation selected Emerson Process Management Power &
Water Solutions and its representative in South Korea, Duon Systems Co.,
Ltd., to install the Ovation information and control system at its new
twin 800 MW-unit facility in Yonghung. The $2.5 billion next-generation
Yonghung plant will operate as a base load unit with centralized automatic
control. The Ovation system and SmartProcess modules will control and
optimize both 800 MW once-through supercritical boilers and turbine generators.
Hardware for the Ovation system at Yonghung will include more than 18,000
I/O devices, three dozen remote controllers, several servers, multiple
operators' and engineers' stations, printers, and more. Based on Emerson
Process Management's digital PlantWeb architecture, the system will also
include Asset Management Solutions (AMS) software to diagnose control
valves, organize device information into a central database, and remotely
monitor field devices. SmartProcess Steam Temperature Optimizer, Boiler
Efficiency Optimizer, and Low NOx Optimizer modules will be used to further
increase plant efficiency and prolong equipment life.
